Dr. Beth Jones has been married to Dr. Dan Jones since 1992. They have two children, Caleb, 13, and Ivey, 11 who attend public schools in Caldwell County. After meeting in Veterinary School at North Carolina State University, Dan and Beth married and moved to Caldwell County where they now manage their own veterinary practice. As a small business owner for the past decade, Beth understands what it takes to operate a successful small business.

A child of Western North Carolina, Beth grew up in Asheville where she attended public schools through her graduation from Asheville High School in 1985. She attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where she graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1989. In 1993, Beth graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Later, classes at UNC-Charlotte led to a Masters of Public Administration in 1998. Beth is an active member of her community.

Beth and Dan are members of First United Methodist Church in Lenoir and participate in the Blue Ridge Horseman’s Association. A compassionate woman, Beth often brings her work home, literally. The Jones’ routinely care for injured or neglected animals on their own time at their home. She understands that the health and well-being of both animals and humans cannot be limited to the hours of a normal work week.

This is a lesson Beth learned early on. After complications with the birth of her first child, Caleb, Beth has worked tirelessly with the non-profit organization March of Dimes to ensure that every baby is born healthy.

In 2000, the Beth served on the Board of Health in Caldwell County and the American Business Women’s Association named Beth as its Woman of the Year. That year, the ABWA placed Beth in its Top 10 for National Woman of the Year.

Beth serves as a Trustee at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, a position she has held for the past two years. As an alumnus of two public universities, Beth understands the value and importance of affordable public education and she has spent her time as a Trustee fighting to improve local public education at a low cost.
