Beth Jones promises to stand up for your interests in Raleigh and she will do everything she can to make sure your voice is heard in Raleigh.
Economy/Jobs
As a small business owner, Beth Jones understands the importance of locally owned and operated business to Caldwell and Burke counties. For the past 10 years Beth and her husband Dan have managed their own veterinary practice in Caldwell County. As your next State Senator, Beth Jones will fight to protect the rights of small business owners while doing everything she can to get North Carolina’s economy back on the right track.
Unemployment rates continue to skyrocket in our communities. In March 2009, unemployment in both Caldwell and Burke Counties was over 15%. Beth Jones will work across party lines to do what’s right for her district. She has her priorities correct, and right now, priority number one is getting Caldwell and Burke counties back to work.
Education
Dr. Beth Jones appreciates and values the importance of a good public education. She believes her public school upbringing played an instrumental role in her life. However, she believes there is much more that can be done to improve public education in Caldwell and Burke counties. As a mother of two public school children, she sees on a daily basis the good things and the bad things about our local schools. She vows to fight tirelessly to improve K-12 public education standards across the district, raise teacher pay, and work to improve the dropout rate.
As a trustee at the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, Dr. Jones has worked to make our local Community College one of the most respected institutions of its kind across the state. Beth has made sure this institution serves as a learning hub here in Caldwell county and Burke county where residents can be taught the skills required by the jobs of tomorrow.
Health care
As a Veterinarian, Dr. Jones routinely works to keep our cherished pets alive and healthy. She is a former Board member of the Caldwell County Board of health and she knows the value of affordable and accessible health care. Beth will fight to end outrageous insurance premiums and extraordinarily high co-pays because she truly believes that everyone should be able to afford to go to the doctor when they’re hurt or sick.
Furthermore, Dr. Jones takes the issue of children’s healthcare very seriously. In 1995, complications resulting from the birth of her first child Caleb, led her to work extensively with the March of Dimes organization. Their goal of being able to live in a world where every baby is born healthy is a goal Beth holds dear to her heart, and in Raleigh she will continue to make sure all children are given the best opportunity at a healthy and happy life from the start.
